The Syracuse New Times (Nov. 2017-Present)

  • Worked as the community and events reporter, covering a wealth of topics from new businesses to local leaders
  • Edited and updated our online calendar, and presented notable events in a weekly newsletter to about 1,500 subscribers
  • Managed all editorial social media content and helped create a social media strategy as a member of the company’s strategic team
  • Oversaw the internship program
    • Interviewed and hired student interns, mentoring them to help them develop their writing and pitch stories | The Post-Standard (Aug. 2016-Oct. 2017)

  • Worked as crime and safety reporter, covering cops, courts, and breaking news for the greater Syracuse area
  • Reported on viral upstate New York content for
  • Responsible for monitoring and quick write-ups of daily news pieces, as well as creating more developed stories
    • The latter often manifested themselves as profiles of those affected by crime in the city (such as families of homicide victims, suicide victims, etc.) as well as statistical pieces on crime trends

The Ithacan | Ithaca College (2012-2016)

  • Worked several positions at the college’s student-run newspaper: copy editor, proofreader, managing editor, and editor-in-chief
  • Hired and led a staff of more than 25 students, helping them hone their journalism skills while reporting campus and city news
  • Led the newspaper through a year of complex topics (no-confidence votes, regular student-led protests, part-time faculty unionization efforts, etc.)
